The Jordan Pass is a tourist pass that includes visits to most places of interest in Jordan. As we will see, its purchase is practically unavoidable for tourists, due to the advantages it offers. In the following lines, we explain what it consists of, how to get it, and everything you need to know about this pass.
An (almost) Unavoidable Option
The vast majority of tourists who visit Jordan have their Jordan Pass with them, as it includes the following two advantages:
- The country’s main tourist attractions
- The cost of the entry visa to Jordan because, in practice, for citizens of most countries, there are no controls or restrictions to obtain it. That is, by paying the corresponding fee, any tourist can obtain said visa.
Doing the math, getting the Jordan Pass is well worth it. Keep in mind that the visa alone costs 40 JD and the entrance to Petra costs 50 JD (as of 2025). In total: 90 JD. In contrast, the Jordan Pass, which includes both (and much more) costs between 70 JD and 80 JD, depending on the chosen option.
Only tourists who enter Jordan on a one-off basis might not find it worthwhile to get the Jordan Pass. For example, for those who are going on a fleeting excursion from Israel and do not plan to enter any monument or tourist site. However, that is not the case for most tourists who visit Jordan, as the usual thing is to do a multi-day tour, with entrance to Petra, Wadi Rum, and other places of interest.
How to get It
Getting the Jordan Pass is very simple: as easy as entering the official website and buying it. To do this, it will also be necessary to fill in the personal data of the holder of this pass, also answering a few simple questions: number of nights that will be spent in the country, type of accommodation in which you will stay, date of arrival in the country, etc.
After the purchase, a downloadable PDF will be sent, so you can always carry it with you on your mobile phone. It is also recommended to print it, for security, in case of loss of the phone or the difficulty of reading the QR code on certain screens and with certain readers.
With respect to the visa, it should be said that the Jordan Pass does not act as such. That is, it will be necessary to apply for the corresponding visa on arrival, at the airport. But if it is proven that you have a Jordan Pass and that you are going to stay two nights or more in Jordan, then it will not be necessary to pay the 40 JD fee.
What each Jordan Pass Includes
There are three types of Jordan Pass, each with a different price. All types include the same monuments and sites, with the only difference being the number of consecutive days of visit in Petra.
- Jordan Wanderer: 1 day of visit in Petra
- Jordan Explorer: 2 consecutive days of visit in Petra
- Jordan Expert: 3 consecutive days of visit in Petra
With respect to the other attractions included, there are more than 40, among which are Wadi Rum, Jerash, or the Citadel of Amman. You can check them all in this link to the official page.
But beware, there are two other important aspects to clarify. On the one hand, that only
